Privacy
No name. No email. No phone.

The short version
Trulayla has no accounts. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, photo or contacts, and we do not use advertising or analytics trackers. Your device makes a random ID, and your taste profile is tied to that ID and nothing else.
What stays on your device
Your answers, your rankings and your ratings are kept in this browser (or in the app’s storage). If you enter a birth date, the date itself never leaves your device. Only the age range it falls in (for example 35–44) is part of your profile.
What our server keeps
- Your random device ID and your taste profile: your answers, the taste vector computed from them, dietary limits, and your match setting.
- The restaurants and hotels you ranked: the place’s name, its city or area, and your score.
- A note that a new TasteMate appeared for you, so we can tell you about it. It holds only the two random IDs and how close the match is.
- If you set a recovery key: a one-way code made on your device from your birth date and PIN, then scrambled again on our server. We cannot work out your birth date or PIN from it.
Other people never see your profile. They only see totals, for example “12 people match you at 80%” or the average score of a place, and only when at least 3 people are behind that number.
Technical records
Like most websites, our web server writes a standard access log, which includes your IP address. These logs are deleted automatically after 14 days. To stop abuse, we count requests per day using a scrambled code made from your IP address. We cannot turn that code back into your IP address, and we delete the counts after 2 days.
Place search (Google)
When you search for a restaurant or hotel, the text you type and the city you entered are sent from our server to Google Places to find matches. The request comes from our server, not from your device, and carries no ID that points to you. Google’s own privacy policy covers how Google handles that request.
In the app
If you turn on TasteMate alerts, the app checks our server about every 30 minutes, sending only your random ID. Notifications are created on your phone. We do not use a push service. Sharing uses your phone’s own share menu and sends only what you choose to share.
Deleting everything
Open your answers and tap “Delete my data”. This erases your profile, your rankings and your match notes from our server straight away, and then clears this device. Nightly server backups may still contain a copy for up to 14 days, after which they are deleted automatically.
Because we hold no name or email, we cannot find your data for you. The delete button on your device is the way to reach it. If you lost your device and did not set a recovery key, your profile cannot be linked to you by anyone, including us.
Age
Trulayla is meant for people aged 18 and over.
Changes
If what we store changes, this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
